  7. Installation
  8. - In the Program Manager for Windows 3.10 or 3.11, click on the File menu 
  9. then select Run. In the dialogue box which appears, type ½D:\ORSAY╗ and 
  10. press Enter (if your CD-ROM drive is not D: replace the ½D╗ with the relative 
  11. letter)
  12. - In Explorer for Windows 95, click on the CD-ROM drive icon, then click on 
  13. ½ORSAY.exe╗.

  16. - To quit the application, click anywhere on the screen or press the ALT and 
  17. F4 keys, or the CTRL and Q keys simultaneously.

  19. 256/thousands of colors
  20.  
  21. The Orsay demonstration runs on 256 color or thousands of colors displays. 
  22. To set your display in 256 or in thousands of colors mode, use the appropriate 
  23. utility:
  24. - for Windows 3.0 or 3.1, the utility supplied by the graphic card 
  25. manufacturer or in the Program Manager, Windows installation.
  26. - for Windows 95, click with the right button on the background of the screen, 
  27. then select ½characteristics╗ in the scrolling menu which is displayed. You 
  28. now access to the display setting parameters.

  32. ò Memory
  33.  
  34. To free a maximum of memory, quit all applications in use, resident 
  35. programs, background tasks (network, fax modem...) before launching Orsay.
  36.  
  37. If that isn't enough, try freeing the system of all unnecessary elements by 
  38. editing, if needed, AUTOEXEC.BAT, CONFIG. SYS, the Windows Start-up 
  39. group, then restart.

  42. If you still need more memory, create or increase the virtual memory of your 
  43. system which use the free space on your disk to stimulate RAM memory.
  44. In the Main Group, see Configuration Panel.
  45. Please note, this operation can significantly slow down the application.

  49. ò Suggestions
  50.  
  51. * If, when running, the program sometimes sends an error message, i.e; 
  52. ½General protection error...Close or Ignore╗, you must adapt QuickTime 
  53. parameters to your graphic card. To do this, launch the control panel of 
  54. QuickTime (in Windows 3.1 : Main Group, Configuration Panel, QuickTime; 
  55. in Windows 95 : Menu Bar, Parameters, Configuration Panel, QuickTime). 
  56. Click on the ½More╗ button, then ½Video╗. Select the ½Driver╗ option from 
  57. the list that is displayed. Click on ½Apply╗ to put your modification into 
  58. effect, then ½OK╗.

  62. * Before launching the program, check that no other program is running.

  64. * Some sound or system conflict problems can be solved by removing the 
  65. wallpaper from the office of Windows 3.10.

  67. - If wallpaper is installed in the Windows office, then, from Windows:
  68. - Click on ½Main Group╗
  69. - Click on ½Configuration Panel╗
  70. - Click on the ½Office╗ icon
  71. - Select the ½None╗ option in the ½Wallpaper╗ column (use the 
  72. scrollbar to go up the list)
  73. - clik on ½OK╗
  74. - Quit Windows and relaunch from the DOS (you only need to do this 
  75. operation once).

  77. * Some display (as well as video mode) and sound problems can be solved by 
  78. changing the video driver in ½Windows Installation╗ found in the ½Main 
  79. group╗.

  81. * I you use Navigator on a Packard Bell and encounter problems while 
  82. running Orsay, then, from Navigator:

  84. - Click on the appropriate icon to return to Windows
  85. - Click on the ½Restore╗ button in the ½Program Manager╗ window
  86. (the button in the top right corner, with one arrow pointing up and one 
  87. pointing down)
  88. - The ½Navigator╗ icon appears next to the ½Program Manager╗ icon
  89. - Click once on the ½Navigator╗ icon and select ½Close╗
  90. - Relaunch the application (this operation must be done each time 
  91. ½Navigator╗ is launched).
