- For Windows

- Installation
- - In the Program Manager for Windows 3.10 or 3.11, click on the File menu
- then select Run. In the dialogue box which appears, type ½D:\ORSAY╗ and
- press Enter (if your CD-ROM drive is not D: replace the ½D╗ with the relative
- letter)
- - In Explorer for Windows 95, click on the CD-ROM drive icon, then click on
- ½ORSAY.exe╗.

- Exit
- - To quit the application, click anywhere on the screen or press the ALT and
- F4 keys, or the CTRL and Q keys simultaneously.

- 256/thousands of colors
-
- The Orsay demonstration runs on 256 color or thousands of colors displays.
- To set your display in 256 or in thousands of colors mode, use the appropriate
- utility:
- - for Windows 3.0 or 3.1, the utility supplied by the graphic card
- manufacturer or in the Program Manager, Windows installation.
- - for Windows 95, click with the right button on the background of the screen,
- then select ½characteristics╗ in the scrolling menu which is displayed. You
- now access to the display setting parameters.

- ò Memory
-
- To free a maximum of memory, quit all applications in use, resident
- programs, background tasks (network, fax modem...) before launching Orsay.

- If that isn't enough, try freeing the system of all unnecessary elements by
- editing, if needed, AUTOEXEC.BAT, CONFIG. SYS, the Windows Start-up
- group, then restart.

- If you still need more memory, create or increase the virtual memory of your
- system which use the free space on your disk to stimulate RAM memory.
- In the Main Group, see Configuration Panel.
- Please note, this operation can significantly slow down the application.

- ò Suggestions
-
- * If, when running, the program sometimes sends an error message, i.e;
- ½General protection error...Close or Ignore╗, you must adapt QuickTime
- parameters to your graphic card. To do this, launch the control panel of
- QuickTime (in Windows 3.1 : Main Group, Configuration Panel, QuickTime;
- in Windows 95 : Menu Bar, Parameters, Configuration Panel, QuickTime).
- Click on the ½More╗ button, then ½Video╗. Select the ½Driver╗ option from
- the list that is displayed. Click on ½Apply╗ to put your modification into
- effect, then ½OK╗.

- For more information on using your graphic card, consult your supplier.

- * Before launching the program, check that no other program is running.
-
- * Some sound or system conflict problems can be solved by removing the
- wallpaper from the office of Windows 3.10.
-
- - If wallpaper is installed in the Windows office, then, from Windows:
- - Click on ½Main Group╗
- - Click on ½Configuration Panel╗
- - Click on the ½Office╗ icon
- - Select the ½None╗ option in the ½Wallpaper╗ column (use the
- scrollbar to go up the list)
- - clik on ½OK╗
- - Quit Windows and relaunch from the DOS (you only need to do this
- operation once).

- * Some display (as well as video mode) and sound problems can be solved by
- changing the video driver in ½Windows Installation╗ found in the ½Main
- group╗.

- * I you use Navigator on a Packard Bell and encounter problems while
- running Orsay, then, from Navigator:
-
- - Click on the appropriate icon to return to Windows
- - Click on the ½Restore╗ button in the ½Program Manager╗ window
- (the button in the top right corner, with one arrow pointing up and one
- pointing down)
- - The ½Navigator╗ icon appears next to the ½Program Manager╗ icon
- - Click once on the ½Navigator╗ icon and select ½Close╗
- - Relaunch the application (this operation must be done each time
- ½Navigator╗ is launched).
